Retired couple Andy Campbell (65) and his wife Pam (63) have recently moved into an elegant chalet bungalow at Brambledown in Maidstone by Millwood Designer Homes.
Andy explains: “Our ultimate reason for moving was to find a bungalow that suited our changing needs, we’re both getting older and no longer want or need stairs. Our previous home was quite the opposite, a townhouse set over three floors in Bearsted, Kent, which we no longer found practical. We started our property search around 12-18 months ago and decided to specifically look for new build bungalows. We have a history of buying new and love the fact that no-one else has lived there before.”
Andy continues: “We didn’t want to move out of the wider Maidstone area as we’ve lived here for the last 32 years, so specified our search to within a five-mile radius and came across Millwood online. When we first visited Brambledown, only three properties on the site had been built, but we absolutely fell in love with the show home. We bought the same house-type but a different plot with a south facing garden. The architecture of the home is very interesting, it’s not a typical new build. All of the houses are very pretty at Brambledown and there are only two other homes like ours on the development, which make them quite unique.”
Andy concludes: “As we bought off-plan, Millwood kindly allowed us to choose some features and the specification in our home. Lower maintenance was also what we were looking for as we go away to our holiday home in Spain as and when we choose. We also travel up to town quite a bit and usually go from Staplehurst station straight into Charing Cross, which is ideal when we visit the theatre. Locally, everything else we need is on hand either by walking or a short-drive away. Being on a small development is great, it’s just the right size and the properties are laid out very thoughtfully, there’s a strong feeling of space and community.”
