BUYING NEW GAVE MUM & SON A NEW LEASE OF LIFE IN EAST SUSSEX
Low maintenance, lower running costs and practicality are the top three attributes that make new build homes the nation’s favourite choice of housing. Whilst older properties are often furnished with attractive period features, these can also be in an aging condition and in many cases, require a financial outlay to refurbish. For Tracey Orme and her 7-year-old Son Finley, the appeal of a brand-new home with a garden that she could move into and start enjoying straight away, was an opportunity she couldn’t resist. After living in a two-bedroom apartment for 20 years, Tracey successfully purchased her first three-bedroom semi-detached house at Millwood Designer Homes’ Coppice End development in the sought-after East Sussex town of Crowborough.
47-year-old Business Owner Tracey explains: “I had been living in the Crowborough area for many years, I run a local cleaning business, my Dad lives here and we have many friends near us, so I definitely wanted to stay in this area. I had been living in my flat for 20 years, but with Finley getting older, I wanted a house with more space for both of us, and a garden was a priority. I had viewed a few different houses but most were quite expensive and needed work done, which meant spending more money. I then found out about Millwood Designer Homes and their new development, CoppiceEnd. I arranged to view and was really impressed with the quality and specification and Finley loved the fact there was a garden! Although I hadn’t really considered a new build home, it really did have everything I wanted – it was already decorated for us and there was no DIY to do.”
Tracey continues: “We absolutely love living here, Finley now has a bigger room with a built-in wardrobe and when he comes home from school he can’t wait to go in the garden! The development is really quiet, there is no busy traffic or cars so Finley can play outside much more now. There is a good community feel here, the neighbours are really nice too. There are some really great local amenities nearby, Finley goes to many clubs at Crowborough Leisure Centre which is less than a 10-minute drive away. We also go out and about quite a lot – I like to go running and Finley comes with me on his bike, and when the weather is warmer we like to go to Ashdown Forest, although this year we will have our own garden to make the most of. It’s a really great place to live with some brilliant local schools; when Finley starts high school, he will be able to walk there from here which he is really pleased about.”
Speaking about the sales process, Tracey explains: “Before I purchased at Coppice End, I did a bit of research about Millwood, they have a very good reputation in the area and the build quality and specification of their homes is much better than other developments I had viewed. I have been really impressed by the service I have received from Millwood Homes. Sadly, my Mum passed away whilst the house sale was going through and at the time I really wasn’t sure if I would be able to continue. Millwood were amazing, very patient and helped me through everything. They also sent me a nice card too. It has been a difficult time but now we are here, we are glad we made the move. Its also nice to be living near my Dad, he is able to come over and spend quality time with Finley too.”
“Tracey concludes: “All in all, the whole process went very smoothly and at no time did I feel under any pressure. Finley and I are really looking forward to our first Christmas in our new home, and this year we will be able to decorate the outside of our house, living in a flat we were unable to do this. Being a single mum, I’ve worked really hard to purchase this lovely new home but it has been so worth it to give my son a home he deserves and we are both so happy here. It’s perfect!”
