Kent-based housebuilder Millwood Designer Homes is celebrating after a successful win at the recent 2015 Evening Standard New Homes Awards – dubbed the Oscars of the housebuilding industry – where it saw not one but two accolades for it’s popular development, Orchard Gate, on Kiln Barn Road in Ditton, Kent.
The housebuilder, who is not short of awards, won Highly Commended in the Best Family Home category between £750K and £1.5M for No.2 Franklin Kidd, described as an attractive detached house on the site of an old fruit research laboratory. In fact, the road has been named after one of the pioneers that ran the research between the Wars, giving it a real sense of history. However, the awards didn’t stop there as Millwood went on to win the Best Large Development category as well.
With over 75% either sold or reserved, the collection of 35 beautiful rustic houses has not just been a hit with the Evening Standard. Millwood has expertly crafted a wonderful community of homes, designed in an eclectic mix of architectural styles that reflect the surrounding area and villages over past centuries, rather than the design principles of modern mass-housing developments.
This, along with its fabulous location, set amongst apple orchards and farmland with long-distance views of the North Downs, could not fail to impress both the Evening Standard and buyers alike.
Says Managing Director John Elliott: “We are absolutely thrilled with our success. The Evening Standard Awards are special because of the way they are judged. Every entry is scrutinised by a panel of experts, but the final decisions are made in collaboration with readers of the Evening Standard, making the awards even more valuable.
“Judges visited 137 houses, apartments and developments, and shortlisted 104 for judging by the readers, so to have received two awards is a fantastic achievement. We always knew Orchard Gate was going to be special, and these awards have proved it.
“I want to thank everyone at Millwood for all their hard work and dedication that has resulted in yet more success for our company.”
Orchard Gate is close to the M20, M26 and M25. There are stations at both East Malling and West Malling with a regular service to London Victoria in around an hour.
If you would like to live on an award-winning development, then make sure to get in touch, as only a few homes now remain. Current availability includes three and four-bed semis with prices from £315,000. The Help to Buy scheme is also available at Orchard Gate.
