As well as building luxury award-winning homes, we are incredibly passionate and proud of our work within the local communities where we build, and over the years this has become an integral part of our company values.

As part of this year’s Heart of Kent Hospice’s annual Maidstone Road Run, we were keen to prove our commitment to a much-loved and inspiring local charity by becoming lead sponsor, and three keen members of the Millwood team put themselves forward to take part. On Sunday 8th March, Assistant Project Manager Charlotte Cox, Senior Site Manager Luke Thomas and Assistant Project Manager Clive Turner, along with hundreds of other eager runners arrived at Cornwallis Academy in Maidstone to take their place on the starting line.

Erica Snow, Heart of Kent Hospice Community and Events Fundraising Manager comments: “We are extremely grateful to Millwood Designer Homes for their generous sponsorship of the Maidstone Road Run 2020. The run is one of the Hospice’s main flagship events and attracts over 600 runners. This year we also hosted ‘Elmer’s family fun race – a 1k run for the whole family in celebration of Elmer’s Big Heart of Kent Parade this Summer, which was a big success. Millwood Designer Homes’ generous sponsorship enabled us to raise the maximum amount of proceeds from the event which goes directly back to the Heart of Kent Hospice and the people we care for in the community with a terminal illness”.

One of our Assistant Project Managers, Charlotte Cox, ran a half marathon in support of the hospice on the day: “I had a fabulous day at the Maidstone Road Run, supporting such a great cause. I managed to run my half marathon in 2:01, which I was very pleased with. I’m so proud of my colleagues too – Luke completed his first ever 5k race, and Clive completed a super speedy 10k! Together we have managed to raise £385 in sponsorship for the Heart of Kent Hospice, and I’m so happy we were able to take part. It was a fantastic event for a fantastic cause.”

We were delighted to be the lead sponsor for the Heart of Kent Hospice Maidstone Road Run 2020. Established in 1991, Heart of Kent Hospice provides outstanding care for patients and their families who face the daily challenge of living with a terminal illness. It is a truly inspiring annual event that raises valuable funds from the local community, and we are extremely proud to be able to support the occasion, as well as a local charity.
