Seventeen-year-old local schoolgirl Micaela Sowerby, who lives in Leigh, has been awarded a prestigious prize by her school, Hillview in Tonbridge. The Prize for Creativity was awarded to Micaela in recognition of her sensory room project which she did in 3D design last year.

The prestigious award is sponsored by local housebuilder Millwood Designer Homes as part of its Encouragement Pack initiative that the company runs with a number of schools in Kent and East Sussex.

Philip Brown, Millwood’s Sales Director, was delighted to meet Micaela when he presented her with a trophy along with a £50 cheque and £50 book token.

Says Philip, “It was a pleasure to meet Micaela who is clearly a very creative young woman. She is currently studying Media Studies, Graphics, English Literature and Language and Drama at AS Level, with plans to go on to university to do a degree in Media Studies. Although she is not 100% sure of where her future lies, she is interested in magazine editing and journalism and I have no doubt that whatever she decides, she has a very promising career ahead of her.”

Micaela was honoured to receive the award, saying, “I really love creative subjects so to receive this award makes me confident that I can go into a creative career in the future!”
