According to a recent article in The Sunday Times, Reigate in Surrey is the 12th best place to live in Britain.

Their reason? It’s a much greener – and cheaper – alternative to Islington but still has the spirit of “North London”.

In Reigate you’ll find delis, dress shops and cafes – there’s even one that combines cycling with coffee. Maison du Vélo is a hub for cyclists to meet, talk bikes, refuel, or just chill and watch the cycling action on screen – whilst enjoying a cup of coffee of course!

Reigate is also well known for its dining scene, and you’re spoilt for choice when it comes to restaurants. The Dining Room is a chic, contemporary restaurant that demonstrates the chef’s classical background whilst also incorporating some international influences. Known from the BBC’s Ready Steady Cook, Tony Tobin joined as Head Chef in 1993, and has since established the restaurant as one of Surrey’s finest.

Of course, we mustn’t forget the great schools in the area, as well as the open spaces of Priory Park and the North Downs, making Reigate a great choice for families. Reigate Heath has a nine-hole golf course – described as “a little gem!” by TV commentator Peter Alliss, whilst commuters can be in London Bridge in 39 minutes and Gatwick in half that time.

All in all, it is easy to see why The Sunday Times rated Reigate so highly. So isn’t it time you joined them?
