One of the main attractions of Yalding is the real sense of community supported by a range of local amenities and activities. There is the local church of St Peter and St Paul which supports a vibrant choir group, plus a Post Office, doctors surgery, small convenience store – although Waitrose and Tesco are not much more than a ten-minute drive – and no fewer than three local pubs.

Talking of threes, there are three bridges in the village: Twyford Bridge, one of the finest medieval bridges in the southeast of England which was thought to be constructed around 1325; Town Bridge, with the Post Office alongside, and the main crossing point over the river Beult is a stone bridge with seven arches and constructed in the 1400s; the Bascule Bridge across the weir completes the trio and is located adjacent to Teapot Island – the location for a museum that houses the UK’s largest collection of teapots.
