Site manager wins awards for stunning coastal development

Last month, the housebuilding industry's finest attended the regional final for London and the South East to celebrate one of its most prestigious awards scheme, Pride in the Job, held at the Hilton Metropole hotel in Brighton. Our very own Robert Baldock not only won a coveted Pride in the Job Award, he also beat a shortlist of exceptionally-skilled site managers to win a Seal of Excellence. Millwood then went on to take the title of Best Small Builder.
All three awards were for our stunning coastal development, Cooden Place in Bexhill-on-Sea, which was described as beautifully mixing old style with modern construction methods, showing real attention to detail.
Pride in the Job, run by NHBC (National House-Building Council), is the only awards scheme to reward site managers for the unique contribution they make to the housebuilding process, being responsible for delivering high-quality homes by directing projects from start to finish.
Robert Baldock was away on holiday so regrettably could not attend the ceremony, but Millwood Designer Homes' Construction Director, Roy Magro, was delighted to collect the award on his behalf, saying, "I know Robert will be thrilled at receiving this award and I couldn't think of a more deserving winner. He is no stranger to awards as he has won several internal company awards - including two for Excellence in Construction and two for Health & Safety Excellence. He has worked incredibly hard on the Cooden Place site to ensure it reflects the high standards and exceptional quality that we as a company strive to deliver. We have witnessed tremendous success with the development, which quickly sold out – a true testament to the stunning collection of homes that have been created."
Steve Catt, NHBC Regional Director, says:
"Pride in the Job has been instrumental in raising the build quality of new homes in the UK for over three decades, with housebuilders now routinely striving for perfection in their work. A Pride in the Job award at any level marks the recipient out as a top performer, showing their true diligence and commitment to producing the best quality homes possible, but to win a Regional title demonstrates something just that little bit special."
We caught up with Robert Baldock, who has been in the construction industry for 26 years, after he had returned from holiday. He told us that he was delighted to have won, saying, "I never even knew that I had been entered for a Pride in the Job Award, so to have won the regional final and then gone on to win the Small Builder category for our region is amazing. This award is for everyone at Millwood Designer Homes as we all play an important part in maintaining the high standards of the company, ensuring a close attention to detail and producing the quality homes that win awards time and time again. It is a company that I am very proud to work for."
Chosen from over 13,000 site managers nationwide working on projects registered with NHBC, Robert will now represent his region at the competition's grand final in January, hoping to secure Millwood Designer Homes' place as the nation's best housebuilder.
Millwood will soon be returning to the coast with one its latest developments, The Combe in Eastbourne, consisting of three stunning five-bed detached luxury homes.
Millwood also currently has a range of properties in locations throughout Kent, Surrey and Sussex. For more information about any of the developments, please call 01732 770991.
